Our son’s school has many wonderful traditions and this is one that both of my boys have been called to perform. On Dec. 6th, the feast day of Saint Nicholas, the sixth grade class secretly fills first grader’s shoes, which are neatly lined up in the hallway, with sweets and fruits while St. Nicholas makes a visit to their classroom. He tells them a little story about himself and the good works he did as the bishop of Myra and helping poor children, etc., then takes questions from the curious 6 and 7 year olds.
Michael as he enters the classroom…notice the kid’s shoes lined up!
St. Nicholas presents his story to the kids…who seem to be in awe of him! First grade teacher Mrs. Hindman smiles at her former pupil Michael!
