My Grandmother's Plates

I made a Cowboy Quiche and Potato soup for the boys tonight and was trying to figure out how to serve it to them.  Then I thought about my Grandmother's luncheon plates that my mother gave to me many years ago.  They are probably 70 years old or so and are made in Italy and hand painted
with these sweet cabbage roses.  I love the matching cups for soups!

I have used them to serve lunch to girlfriends, but never to the boys.  Guess I just always thought they might drop them and that would crush me.  I also used my husband's grandmother's silverware and that made it all perfect!  Were they as excited as I was to eat off of them and learn the story about their history...uh, no.  But I bet it sure made Margaret Lucille and Erma Elizabeth smile down from heaven at the sight!

King Cake Baby Time!

Happy Epiphany and Mardi Gras Season!   I have been emptying a few bottles of purple green and gold recently and thought I would share!

I especially love this huge one...a client will hang this 34" x 48" on the front of her New Orleans home for carnival season...he just makes me giggle!
