A to Z in Alma, Arkansas!

Alma, Arkansas is a small town just outside of Fort Smith.  It’s claim to fame is being the spinach capitol of Arkansas, and my favorites, the A to Z mega warehouses.  I try to go several times a year and especially in April (to shop for Vacation Bible School decorations),  and October (to shop for Christmas decorations.) Plan on staying for at least an hour to get through the gifts store…you have to be a real hunter to find the most unusual and bizarre items.  I have often dropped my kids off at school and arrived at A to Z when they open at 8 am and meandered through the gifts store for hours…finishing up by noon with 2 buggies worth of treasures.index_02 The aerial shot…the gifts store is the bottom left!  I always see license plates from Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas and beyond!

This place is huge…these pictures just don’t do it justice.  You will find lots of quality crap and some unbelievable treasures.  It’s all in the hunt and knowing what you are looking for.  I have often debated wearing earplugs in this joint because the music they pipe in is that cheesy old time, Bransonesque, feel good show gospel tunes, but I figure it’s all a part of the ambiance of the place…along with mamas yelling out “Marco Polo” for their lost, barefoot children, or the sounds of motorized scooters zooming by. My husband would LOVE this place!  But it’s worth it…come take a look…
